Shipping Officer/Manager – Freight Management
Our client is a multinational corporation (MNC) and a leader in the supply chain and food industry. As part of their commitment to ensuring smooth and efficient freight management, they are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shipping Officer/Manager to join their logistics team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full scope of freight management, from contract negotiation to delivery, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of goods
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and internal teams, to ensure seamless shipping processes
- Prepare, review, and maintain all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and Incoterms
- Handle letter of credit (LC) documentation and liaise with banks and customers to facilitate smooth transactions
- Monitor and track shipments, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any issues that may arise, such as damaged containers
- Communicate proactively with clients, providing regular updates on shipment status and addressing any concerns or queries
- Negotiate favorable shipping rates and contracts with carriers and freight forwarders
- Optimize shipping routes and modes to minimize costs and transit times
- Maintain accurate records and generate reports on shipping activities and performance metrics
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in freight management
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ocean freight shipping, with a strong understanding of international trade practices
- In-depth knowledge of Incoterms, letter of credit (LC) procedures, and shipping documentation
- Excellent communication skills in English and Cantonese, both written and verbal, are essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex shipping challenges and resolve issues efficiently
- Proficient in using shipping software, such as Cargowise, and Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours when necessary to coordinate with international parties
